Recently, Landing Law Offices successfully hosted the seminar “Business Opportunities and Challenges of Investing in Morocco”, as part of its Africa Country Month series, at the North Bund International Legal Service Center. As Chinese enterprises accelerate their “going global” strategy, Morocco—renowned for its stable economic environment, open market policies, and strategic position linking Europe, Africa, and the Middle East—has emerged as an increasingly attractive destination for investment. The seminar explored Morocco’s business landscape, legal practices, and cultural adaptability, offering participants cutting-edge insights and practical guidance. The event was hosted by Mr. Xiaotong Zhang, Attorney at Landing Law Offices.

Mr. Zhan Wang, Senior Partner of Landing Law Offices and initiator of the firm’s Morocco office, extended a warm welcome to the participants and introduced the keynote speakers and topics. He noted that with Morocco hosting the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup in 2030, the country is entering a phase of rapid development. He further announced that Landing Law Offices is in the process of establishing its Morocco office, aiming to build a comprehensive service platform covering legal, financial, and business advisory services to support enterprises and individuals investing in Morocco.

Mr. Hamza BOUKILI, Mathematics Lecturer at the Paris Elite Institute of Technology (Shanghai Jiao Tong University)(上海交通大学巴黎卓越工程师学院), delivered an in-depth presentation on Morocco’s business environment. He analyzed industry-specific business cycles and highlighted critical considerations for foreign investors, including cultural differences, workplace practices, social etiquette, language barriers, human resource management, and salary levels. He also emphasized the importance of paying close attention to national security issues, political sensitivities, and legal compliance when investing in Morocco.

Perspectives from Moroccan Business Leaders
Moroccan entrepreneur Mr. Houcine BOULMAN joined via online conference to provide a macro-level overview of Morocco’s current development trajectory and investment potential. He analyzed the advantages of Morocco’s business environment, financial system, and port logistics. He stressed Morocco’s geographic significance as a hub connecting Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and noted the long-standing, friendly economic ties between China and Morocco—from historic tea trade to today’s diversified exchanges—which have fostered broad goodwill among Moroccan citizens toward China.

Mr. Hongmin Ji, Attorney and initiator of Landing Law Offices Morocco Office, presented on “Legal Practices for Chinese Enterprises Investing in Morocco”. He provided a systematic overview of Morocco’s investment climate, legal framework, and the services offered by Landing’s Morocco team. Mr. Ji highlighted Morocco’s role as a strategic hub for Chinese overseas investment, supported by preferential policies for foreign investors and strong international cooperation frameworks. Drawing from practical experience, he outlined key sectors and projects currently attracting Chinese capital, and offered professional guidance on compliance matters including company formation, tax policies, employment, and social security.

In the final session, participants engaged in lively discussions on investment practices, cross-cultural communication, and tax planning, creating an atmosphere that was both dynamic and productive.

Looking ahead, Landing Law Offices will continue to closely monitor developments in Morocco and the wider African market. Leveraging its professional and international legal service teams, the firm remains committed to providing high-quality legal support and resource connectivity for Chinese enterprises venturing abroad.
